someone told me that mustard is a possible cure. I have the same problem… I avoid spicy meat & beef before bedtime. seems to help.
It’s not a "cure", but I’ve always found that drinking really cold milk is a good quick-fix until it passes.
I had acid reflux severe enough that the Doctors were talking surgery. I wanted no part of that. I was on Prilosec and Nexium. The doses to keep it under control kept increasing. With the increased dosages, the reflux increased with it. I finally said ‘enough’. I started drinking Apple Cider Vinegar with every meal. I also use digestive enzymes a half an hour before each meal. I take Acidophillus (sp?) or a multi species bacillus supplement. It took about a year+, but I had my last scope done 3 months ago and had no sign of the precancerous changes that were identified in a previous scope.
I found that Tums, and other antacids will make my reflux worse, also.
Drink lots of water each day. I drink about a gallon of water every day. I feel it when I don’t drink as much. Teas are useful in helping calm your stomach. Ginger root ground fine and steeped for 15 minutes or more is very soothing. Peppermint has slight anesthetic properties, (it makes your lips slightly numb), chamomile has long been valued for its antinausea properties. I especially like a particular tea, it’s from The Republic of Tea (brand name) Orange Ginger Mint. I steep that for an hour (when I worked as a Vet Tech, I couldn’t get to it for an hour after I made it) and it takes on a lovely spicy-sweet flavor. I don’t use any flavoring in my teas, like honey or lemon.
Another thing that helps me is to keep myself regular. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Less meat and dairy. I will start to reflux if I become constipated. I use Apple Pectin capsules to help with fiber intake. Go to your local Health Food store. The people who work there are usually pretty knowledgeable.
What the allopathic medicine industry doesn’t want us to know, is that reflux is usually because we don’t have ENOUGH acid to digest our food. The food sits in our stomach and rots, building gas, which is relieved by belching. It will allow acid to wash back up the esophagus.
The fact that when I had the scope done before this last one, the Dr. identified goblet cells, (which was never reported to me) and now I don’t have them is proof enough for me that I am doing something right.
Coconut oil is an excellent cure for acid reflux. A friend of mine who is a medical muscular therapist had terrible acid reflux. It completely disappeared with organic, unrefined, virgin coconut oil (available at Whole Foods). She stopped taking it for four days and hear acid reflux re-appeared. It ceased when she began taking coconut oil again. Coral Calcium is another cure for acid reflux.
vinager the real problem oftenis an inbalance of stumic acid. It works for me , not instantly, but in a 20 minet or so time table. Can’t hurt to try. I drink about a tablespoon in a small glass of water.

Well, there are a few herbs that can help to neutralize the acid in the stomach like Ginger, Licorice (especially DGL, Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice), Chamomile, Slippery Elm, and Horehound.
It can sometimes take a little time for those to help, so in the mean time, you could take some Calcium, Magnesium, and/or Potassium to help when the reflux kicks up while taking those. In any case, I wish you good luck!
