Acid Reflux Cures – Information

You’re about to discover a natural remedy for acid reflux. But first some information:

Symptoms:

Heartburn is the most common symptom of acid reflux, and it’s caused by stomach acid backing up into your esophagus. The pain is often described as a burning sensation, rising from the stomach into the center of your chest.

Occasional heartburn doesn’t necessarily mean you suffer from Acid Reflux Disease. However, if you experience heartburn more than twice per week, and if your heartburn gets worse after you eat or when you lie down or bend over, you probably have a more serious condition than heartburn. You probably have Acid Reflux Disease.

Acid Reflux Disease (also called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD) occurs when the reflux of stomach acid is frequent enough that it causes continual problems in your daily life, and/or results in damage to your esophagus.

How Acid Reflux Disease Works…

At the top of your stomach is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which normally opens and closes allowing food to enter the stomach. It also prevents the acid in your stomach from backing up into your esophagus.

With GERD, the LES opens at inappropriate times, allowing acid from the stomach to leak into the esophagus, where it doesn’t belong.

Acid reflux disease can also lead to more serious medical conditions that require hospitalization and even surgery. In some acid reflux patients, acid can be regurgitated into the lungs, causing a cough or wheezing.

Acid reflux in the throat can cause a sore throat. If acid reaches the mouth, it can dissolve the enamel of the teeth!

The condition is common: Millions of people have the disease and suffer from the pain of heartburn every day BUT thankfully, there are acid reflux cures.

Just like other prescribed treatments of acid reflux, home remedies for acid reflux have proven to be just as effective in treating this condition. Due to their ease of availability, they have been able to be widely accepted and used by many. They are also seen as being the best to use because side effects is something that they do not have. Listed below are some of the common remedies in use today.

Try and elevate your head while attempting to sleep. It is said that this method makes it very difficult for stomach acids to climb up back to the throat and make you have a burning sensation as acid passes through.Reason behind this method is that, when the stomach acids try to climb towards the throat, the stomach gravitational pull brings the acid down back to the stomach hence preventing acid reflux from occurring.

Eating a lot of vegetables may also prove to be one of the home remedies for acid reflux that works well in combating the disease. Vegetables help a lot in ensuring that proper food digestion takes place. Proper food digestion makes it hard for the stomach contents to be pushed back up to the throat, a process known as reflux. This goes a long way in helping you in terms of health living.

Consumption of garlic either as part of your cooked food or raw, goes along way in reducing cholesterol levels in the body. Low cholesterol in the body will prevent the body from amassing unwanted toxins which may be forced to flow towards the throat due to the malfunctioning of the lower esophagus sphinster. As these unwanted toxins are restricted from accessing the throat, acid reflux too is not given a chance to occur. So do not mind the smell, have a habit of taking garlic in order to treat your reflux problem.

Black pepper is well known for its digestion capabilities and this makes it to be considered as part of the many home remedies used to treat acid reflux. Just like vegetables, black pepper helps a lot in food digestion and for you who is experiencing acid reflux, this should be taken as good news. The reason here is that, proper food digestion would assist a lot in reducing significantly the chances of the digested content being pushed up back towards the throat and cause the throat to get an irritation due to acid reflux. So adding a little black pepper in your food should be considered at this point so as to treat this problem.

Avoid cigarette smoking and use this idea as another home remedy for acid reflux. Cigarettes are said to contain nicotine and which is believed to be a major cause of acid reflux. Nicotine weakens the lower esophagus sphinter and this may allow stomach content including gastric acid start flowing back through the esophagus to the throat. As this acid passes through, it causes you to have a burning irritation in your throat. Therefore, as you pick up a cigarette to smoke, have in mind the consequences that come with it.
